General Conditions
- Your original invoice must accompany every warranty claim. WARRANTY IS VOID WITHOUT RECEIPT.
- Contact your Sales Representative before removing, repairing, or replacing any part. Claims submitted after a part has been removed or repaired without prior authorization will not be honored.
- The defective part must remain installed and accessible until an authorized 74 Auto Parts representative has confirmed the defect.
- All warranty claims must be submitted and approved by an authorized 74 Auto Parts manager within 90 days of the triggering event.
- All warranty work must be performed by a repair facility that has received prior written authorization from an authorized 74 Auto Parts employee. Warranty repairs performed without prior written authorization will not be honored.
- In the event of a valid warranty claim, 74 Auto Parts will repair or replace the defective part up to a maximum value equal to 105% of the original purchase price of that part. 74 Auto Parts does not guarantee that a replacement part of equal or lesser mileage will be available. A comparable part of similar condition and application will be provided at our discretion.
- 74 Auto Parts reserves the right to repair, replace, or refund the original purchase price at its sole discretion.
- Warranty coverage applies to stock vehicle applications only. Any vehicle that has been modified in any way voids all warranty coverage.
- Parts installed in vehicles used for racing, off-road, or commercial purposes are not covered.
- Improper installation, misdiagnosis, or failure caused by other existing vehicle components voids warranty coverage. 74 Auto Parts reserves the right to send an inspector for any diagnosis.
- Extended plans must be purchased at the time of invoice. They are not available after the sale has been closed under any circumstance.
- Extended warranty plans are not available for engines or transmissions with more than 199,999 miles at the time of sale. This restriction applies to both the Extended Parts (Gold) and Extended Labor (Gold+) plans. Mileage is verified at the time of invoice and noted on the receipt. This restriction applies to engines and transmissions only — all other drivetrain and component categories are not subject to the mileage eligibility limit.
- Parts sold at a discounted price due to pre-existing damage, known defects, or noted condition issues are not eligible for Extended Parts (Gold) or Extended Labor (Gold+) warranty plans under any circumstance. Whether such parts are offered with or without the Standard Warranty is at the sole discretion of the selling Sales Representative or Management, and will be clearly noted on the invoice at the time of sale. Any warranty coverage offered on a discounted-for-damage part is limited strictly to what is stated on the invoice and does not extend beyond those terms.
Powertrain Coverage — Engines & Transmissions
Powertrain components carry specific installation requirements that must be completed to maintain warranty coverage. Failure to follow these requirements will void your warranty. Keep all invoices and service records for the full duration of your coverage period.
Engines — Gas & Diesel
- Install a new thermostat and water pump prior to startup.
- Change oil and filter before the engine is first started. Maintain oil changes every 3,000 miles and retain proof of service.
- Replace the timing belt and all oil seals and gaskets as necessary.
- Flush the radiator and verify proper coolant flow and capacity.
- Change the oil cooler.
- All fuel injectors must be inspected and flow-tested by a qualified repair facility prior to installation. Any injector found to be defective, clogged, or outside of manufacturer flow specifications must be replaced. Proof of injector service in the form of a shop invoice must be retained.
- If the fuel system was contaminated by the previous engine failure, a complete fuel system flush is required — flush or replace fuel lines, fuel coolers, and clean or replace the fuel tank. Diesel engines: also flush or replace the high-pressure fuel pump system.
- Change or flush turbos as needed. Turbos are not covered under warranty.
- Diesel engines: Inspect and flush or replace the EGR system as needed.
- Retain all service and maintenance records for the full duration of the warranty period.
- Engine accessories including but not limited to alternators, starters, water pumps, intake and exhaust manifolds, fuel injectors, carburetors, flywheels, turbos, high-pressure oil pumps, injector pumps, and timing belts are not covered under warranty and do not necessarily come with the engine.
Transmissions
- Replace all external seals prior to installation.
- Install new filter and fluid.
- Flush the transmission cooling system including all lines and the cooler.
- Properly seat the torque converter on automatic transmissions.
- All transmissions must be taken to a dealership to be electronically flashed. Failure to provide a dealer receipt will void your warranty.
- Transmissions are warranted against slippage and shifting failures resulting from internal mechanical defects.
- All sensors, wiring, cables, brackets, and computer/diagnostic functions are the responsibility of the installer and are not covered.
Installation Requirements — Other Parts
Axles & Suspension
- Replace all brakes. Brakes are not covered under warranty. Always install new brakes or use the customer's known-good existing components.
- Replace all seals.
- Replace ball joints as necessary.
- Wiring and emergency brake cables are not covered. Replace with components you know are functional.
A/C Compressors
- A new receiver dryer and orifice tube must be installed. The invoice for these parts is required to maintain warranty coverage.
Sheetmetal & Body Parts
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, sheetmetal and body parts are sold as-is and carry no warranty against corrosion, rust, or paint condition. Any warranty coverage for manufacturer defects must be specifically noted on your invoice at the time of purchase. The original invoice must accompany any claim, and the defective part must be returned to 74 Auto Parts for evaluation.
Remanufactured Drivetrain
Remanufactured drivetrain components are covered by the remanufacturing company's warranty. Please follow all instructions and guidelines required by the remanufacturer.
Electronic Components — Sold As-Is
All computers, electronic control modules, power control modules, radios, instrument clusters, and similar electronic components are sold AS-IS. We test all electronic components prior to sale and note their tested condition on your invoice. However, due to the complex and vehicle-specific nature of electronics, these parts carry no warranty, are non-returnable, and are non-refundable once they have been connected or plugged into a vehicle. By purchasing an electronic component, the buyer acknowledges and accepts these terms. This policy exists regardless of installation outcome and cannot be waived.
Brokered & Vendor-Supplied Parts
Some invoices may include parts sourced directly from 74 Auto Parts inventory alongside parts brokered from outside vendors. Any part supplied by an outside vendor is clearly noted on your invoice and is exempt from all 74 Auto Parts warranty coverage. Brokered parts carry only the supplying vendor's warranty terms, which will be provided at the time of sale. 74 Auto Parts is not responsible for the fulfillment, quality, or warranty performance of brokered parts. Invoices may contain both in-stock and brokered parts — coverage applies only to in-stock 74 Auto Parts items.
